The beginning of 2020 was marked with a good tradition we support at Intetics for many years in a row – contribution to the Wikipedia and Wikimedia Foundation development.
For quite a while, Intetics has been an active supporter of Wikipedia and an advocate of a knowledge space that is completely free and is available to everyone. Today the company proudly stands among the Sustaining Wikipedia donors who make Wikipedia an independent and ad-free knowledge source.
Since its creation on January 15, 2001, Wikipedia has grown rapidly into one of the largest reference websites, reaching more than 18 billion page views per month. About 68,000 active Wikipedia contributors are working on more than 49 000 000 articles in 302 languages.
Every day thousands of visitors from around the world collectively make tens of thousands of edits and create thousands of new articles to augment the knowledge held by the Wikipedia encyclopedia.
Wikipedia is a live collaboration differing from paper-based reference sources in important ways. Unlike printed encyclopedias, Wikipedia is continually created and updated with articles on historic events appearing within minutes, rather than months or years. Wikipedia has become more comprehensive than any other encyclopedia because everybody can help improve it.
Wikipedia is more than a website where people go to find information. It is a movement of people and ideas who believe that knowledge should be open and freely shared and Intetics is proud to be a part of it for many years.
