Chicago IL – Software Magazine announced the results of its 33rd annual research of world’s largest software companies based on revenue. In 2014, the total software and services industry totaled $748.7 billion. Intetics was ranked number 444 on the list, showing 4% growth from the previous year.
The software industry saw a 4.3% increase in revenue in the past year, from $717.7 billion in 2013 to $748.7 billion in 2014. The Software 500 is a ranking of the world’s largest software and services companies, based on each company’s fiscal year reports from March to February. The rankings are based on the industry changes in revenue, employees, and research and development.
Due to their impressive growth, the top areas that dominate the industry are: eBusiness applications (700% growth), security tools/systems (600% growth), and healthcare (500%). This is despite the fact that the average R&D investment is actually down from last year’s, decreasing by 1% from to 12.4%.
Overall, the industry showed healthy growth and revenue, which is also evident in the employee growth of 14% from last year. The number of people employed in the industry grew from 4.8 million to over 5.5 million people.
Intetics ranked in the list for its 6th consecutive year. It was listed as #444, with a revenue of $14.4 million, showing a growth of 4.45%, with 3.7% of revenue spent on R&D. The company employed over 450 people in 2014. Other companies on the list included big brands such as IBM, Microsoft, Oracle, and Apple.
