Project objective was to create a new master plan and perform 3D city analysis for the City of Kharkov’s Department of Architecture and Urban Planning that incorporates urban indicators and identifies problematic areas for urban planning.
The second largest city in Ukraine wanted to create highly detailed 3D urban maps based on existing GIS and CAD data. They wanted to quickly and efficiently update their existing master plan of the city, analyze the urban environment, and identify urban planning challenges. The City did not have time or resources to conduct the analysis and detailed research required, which had to incorporate numerous town planning conditions, requirements, standards, and urban indicator calculations. They needed a reliable partner to create an accurate master plan and perform analysis of the urban environment.
Power lines require regular maintenance to ensure all structural elements are supported. This requires systematic servicing of power line components such as transmission lines and tangent towers among other things. These inspections include complex procedures designed to prevent premature degradation and destruction of power line parts. Furthermore, the company must ensure quality and timeliness of inspections to guarantee power line safety during servicing. To assess the condition of power lines and decide which lines need maintenance, the client chose to conduct a LiDAR survey using UAV. This was the quickest and cheapest option, compared to conducting a similar airborne LiDAR survey. The one drawback of this approach is that the UAV with LiDAR on board provides raw data. Therefore it requires specific, expensive software to process, highly qualified specialists and expertise in cloud of point analysis, 3D analysis, and GIS. Not having such expertise in-house, the energy company was looking for GIS specialists with LiDAR data analysis expertise to successfully use their survey data.
A major regional provider of fiber optic cabling solutions needed to install new fiber optic cable in a recently constructed neighborhood to provide the benefits of modern connectivity to residents. Intetics’ client, which owns 40% of the Ukrainian cable television and broadband Internet market, is aggressively expanding its coverage into new areas. As it enters new neighborhoods and cities, the company frequently competes head-to-head with other cabling providers. As a result, it is critical for its installations to be done quickly, on time and with zero gaps in service to end -users -especially in Ukraine’s biggest cities.
The main government organ in charge of road construction and management in Ukraine wanted to create efficient aerial view maps to help them manage important regional roads. They did not have the capacity to develop these maps internally and were looking for a partner capable of creating highly detailed orthophoto-based maps and integrating them with CAD (Computer-Aided Design) systems. Specifically, they wanted a photogrammetry team to process high resolution aerial photo images obtained from an external source, organize spatial data, and perform stereophotogrammetry mapping (piecing multiple aerial view images together). The goal was to create high quality and highly detailed ortho-based maps (scale 1:500) that covered a 25 sq km area and documented features normally found on topographic maps, such as vegetation, water ways, roads, and other man-made and natural features.
A regional cemetery operator in France decided to implement GIS-enabled CMS and get rid of outdated paper maps. GIS-based applications allow most cemetery record operations to be performed by using a displayed map. Functions such as searching, selling and interment record keeping are all done through the map interface. The agency wanted to use these GIS technologies to simplify the cemetery monitoring process and decided to find a partner capable of creating an appropriate cartographic base for such a system.
